Geneva, N.Y. – Rachael Rzemieniewski (Neshanic, NJ/Immaculata) tallied a pair of goals as Gettysburg came from behind to down 22nd-ranked William Smith 2-1 in the second game of the 2000 Heron Cup in women's soccer action on Sunday. The win, the Bullets' first in five all-time meetings with the Herons, evens out Gettysburg's overall record at 2-2.
Despite the Bullets' early control of the play, William Smith found the net first when Kristin Perrigo buried the Herons' first shot of the contest off a feed from Summer Greiner at the 7:26 mark.
Gettysburg quickly resumed their offensive push and found success when Rzemienieski collected the rebound from a shot by Lauren Melillo (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) and slotted it into the open goal at the 26:27 mark.
With the score tied at 1-1 in a back-and-forth second half, Rzemieniewski again collected a loose rebound – this time from a shot by Lisa Schechet (Larchmont, NY/Mamaroneck) – and found the net for the game-winner and her second career two-goal game.
Bullet goalkeeper Kelly Gage (Wyomissing Hills, PA/Wyomissing) recorded six saves and her first collegiate victory while Heron goalkeeper Leah Cornwell tallied seven saves.
Both Gettysburg and William Smith recorded nine shots on goal, while the Herons held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bullets return to action on Wednesday, September 13 when they open their Centennial Conference schedule at Franklin & Marshall College. Game time is 4 p.m.
