LANCASTER, Pa. – Gettysburg, the two-time defending Centennial Conference (CC) champions, downed Franklin & Marshall 3-1 in its conference opener on Wednesday to extend the Bullets' record winning streak in the conference to 20 games.
Rachael Rzemieniewski (Neshanic, NJ/Immaculata) scored her third goal in the last two games and added an assist for Gettysburg (3-2, 1-0 CC).
Rzemieniewski tallied an unassisted goal in the fourth minute to give the Bullets a 1-0 lead. Emily McAuliffe (Lowville, NY/Lowville Academy) then found the back of the net in the 64th minute to make it 2-0 in favor of Gettysburg.
The Diplomats pulled within 2-1 when BZ Hollis scored on a pass from Heather Rice at the 69:07 mark.
The Bullets' Lisa Schechet (Larchmont, NY/Mamaroneck) iced the game for the visitors in the 79th minute with her first collegiate goal off an assist from Rzemieniewski.
Gettysburg outshot F&M 15-6 on the afternoon and held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks. Goalie Kelly Gage (Wyomissing Hills, PA/Wyomissing) tallied three saves on the day for the Bullets. For the Diplomats, Amanda Atterbury also made three saves.
Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday, September 16 when they host conference foe Bryn Mawr. Game time is noon.
