GRANTHAM, Pa. – Troy Sauer scored a pair of goals as Messiah downed Gettysburg 2-0 in non-conference soccer action on Wednesday. With the loss the Bullets record stands at 3-2 overall.
After a half of scoreless soccer Messiah tallied a pair of late game goals to beat the visiting Bullets. Sauer took advantage of a penalty box melee to slip one past the Gettysburg defense at 72:51, and then returned with the help of Matt Bills to pad the win.
The Falcons led the Bullets in shots 21-8 and held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks. Steve Kopp (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair) recorded five often-impressive saves in the Gettysburg net while seeing all 90 minutes of action.
The Bullets return to action on Saturday, September 16 when they open their Centennial Conference schedule at home against Washington . Game time is 2:30 p.m.
