Box Score
BALTIMORE, Md. – Ashley Froman (Glen
Arm, MD/Loch Raven) scored her first goal in over
a year to lift Gettysburg over Johns Hopkins 1-0 in Centennial
Conference (CC) women’s soccer action on Wednesday.
Froman, a junior midfielder, fired a
shot into the left netting in the 30th minute to give the
Bullets (9-4, 6-0 CC) their fourth straight win and second
consecutive 1-0 decision in Baltimore. It was the junior
midfielder’s first goal since scoring in a 9-0 win over Bryn
Mawr on Sept. 16, 2000.
Current CC Player of the Week Jenny
Line (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) assisted on Froman’s
game-winner, raising her team-leading point total to 18 and
giving her a point in all six of the Bullets’ CC matches.
Goalie Carine Doyle (Exton, PA/Bishop
Shanahan) recorded three saves to notch her third
shutout of the season. Shannon O’Malley also made three
stops for JHU.
The Blue Jays’ best opportunities to
tie the game came a minute apart midway through the second
half. Kacey Foster fired a shot wide in
the 61st minute and Jen Baldwin’s attempt went
high less than a minute later.
Both teams recorded nine shots on the
night while Johns Hopkins (8-3-1, 3-2-1 CC) took all four
of the game’s corner kicks.
The win, paired with Muhlenberg’s 2-1
double-overtime win against Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday,
sets up a showdown of CC unbeatens on Saturday. Gettysburg
will face the Mules (12-2, 6-0 CC) in Allentown starting at
1 p.m.
