GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Jenny Line (Carlisle,
PA/Carlisle) scored the game-winning goal to lift Gettysburg
over Franklin & Marshall 1-0 in Centennial Conference (CC)
action on Tuesday.
With the wind and rain beating down on the field the entire
game, Line netted the game-winner from a Liz Feldhusen
(Acton, MA/Acton Boxboro) assist in the 19th minute of
the game. The goal was Line's fourth game-winning goal on
the season, and her team-leading eighth goal, which have all
come in CC play.
The Bullets were able to withstand several Diplomats scoring
opportunities in the game. In the second half, Bullets goalkeeper
Carine Doyle (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) made saves
on shots from Kelly Kennedy and Amy Anton to
preserve Gettysburg's 1-0 shutout victory.
In the game, Christina DiTucci (East Rochester, NY/Our
Lady of Mercy) had six shot to give her 46 on the season,
which breaks the freshman record for shots in a season. Amy
Mollencamp held the record with 40 in 1993.
The Bullets outshot the Diplomats 13-11 in the game. Doyle
had six saves in the game for the Bullets, while Melissa
Ruff had a game-high seven saves for the Diplomats.
With the victory Gettysburg clinches a spot in the CC tournament.
The Bullets improve to 10-5 on the year and 7-1 in the CC,
while the Diplomats fall to 11-4 overall and 5-3 in conference
play.
Gettysburg will host Haverford in conference action for the
final home game of the year for the Bullets. Game time is
2 p.m.
