ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Jen Baldwin
and Kathleen Turley each scored a goal to lift
Johns Hopkins over Gettysburg 2-0 in the semifinals of the
Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer playoffs on Saturday.
Turley scored the game-winning goal when
she knocked the ball over Bullet goalkeeper Carine Doyle’s
(Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) head in the 52nd minute.
Baldwin sealed the victory when she scored
in the left netting on a two-on-one break in the 79th minute.
The Bullets missed several scoring opportunities
in the game.
Johns Hopkins’ goalkeeper Shannon O’Malley
collected three of her six big saves on Liz Feldhusen
(Acton, MA/Acton-Boxboro), Jenny Line (Carlisle,
PA/Carliusle) and Christina DiTucci (East Rochester,
NY/Our Lady of Mercy) in a two-minute span in the
second half.
Doyle had five saves for Gettysburg and
O’Malley had six stops for Johns Hopkins while each team posted
13 shots for the game.
The Bullets end the season 12-6 while
the Blue Jays improve to 12-3-3. Johns Hopkins will
play No. 1 seed and host Muhlenberg at 1 p.m. on Sunday for
the CC championship.
