Bullets use double-doubles to down Ursinus, 76-64

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Steph Drevna (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic), Elizabeth Ross (Chestertown, MD/St. Andrew's School) and Adrienne Lampe (Dumont, NJ/Dumont) all reached double figures in points and rebounds to lead Gettysburg over Ursinus 76-64 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Wednesday.

 Drevna scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the decisive first half and added 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, helping the Bullets (4-1, 2-0 CC) post their fourth straight win.

Ross added 17 points and 15 rebounds while Lampe collected 14 points and 15 boards, all of which were career highs for the freshman frontcourt duo.  All told, Gettysburg held a 66-35 rebounding advantage over the Bears (1-3, 0-1 CC).

Katie Shearer led Ursinus with 17 points and eight rebounds while Erica Maurer added 15 points and seven boards in the loss.  Bridget Hussey also hit double figures for the Bears with 11.

Ursinus led 17-14 midway through the first half before the Bullets used a 21-5 run over the next eight minutes to take command.

Baskets from Lampe and Drevna keyed an 8-0 burst that put Gettysburg ahead to stay at 22-17 with 6:29 left in the half. Ross converted a 3-point play to make it 25-18 and Drevna pushed the lead to double digits for the first time at 32-21 by knocking down the second of her two 3-pointers with 3:26 left before the break.

Drevna scored off a steal for a 35-22 advantage and Dana Bear (Lansdale, PA/Lansdale Catholic) capped the half with a layup at the buzzer, giving the Bullets their largest lead of the game at 39-24.

Shearer scored four points in a 9-2 run at the beginning of the second half to pull Ursinus within 41-33, but Ross tallied six points to fuel a quick 9-0 answer that made it 50-33 Gettysburg with 13:30 remaining.

The Bullets pushed their lead to as many as 30 points before the Bears scored the game's last 18 points to set the final margin.
Drevna also led the team with four assists and four steals while Bear finished with 10 points.

Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday at Washington (Md.).  Game time is 1 p.m.
