GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Cory Dallas (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) scored a game-high and career-high 20 points, and pulled down a career-high 16 boards to lead Gettysburg past Dickinson 76-56 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Friday. The victory ends Gettysburg's 2000-01 season, and notches the Bullets record at 18-6 overall and 9-5 in conference play.
Dallas added a game-high seven blocks, while Dana Bear (Lansdale, PA/Lansdale Catholic) and Jay Hodge (Silver Spring, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) also scored in the double digits with 14 points and 13 points, respectively.
Raina Mast scored a team-high 15 points for Dickinson, while senior Kim Selemba added seven points to become the third-highest scorer in Centennial Conference history. Selemba, who is also Dickinson's second all-time leading scorer, has scored a career total of 1,575 points.
Dickinson (5-19, 3-11 CC) opened the game with authority as Alexis Falvello sank a pass from Desi Fasnacht at 19:09 and Mast pushed the Red Devil lead to four with the help of a Sweeta Hutchinson assist at 18:43.
Dickinson regained the ball following a missed shot by Steph Drevna (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic), but Hodge regained the Bullet possession at 18:06 with a steal and put the home team on the board with an assist from Katie Hewes (West Chester, PA/Villa Maria Academy) at 17:58.
Over the next minute both teams combined for four missed shots, two turnovers and two fouls before Hewes sent Mast to the charity line and 16:47 on a shooting foul. Mast missed her first foul shot, but sank the second one to push the Red Devil lead to 5-2.
The Carlisle squad regained the four-point difference off a jumper from Falvello, but a Dallas layup at 15:14 and two made free throws from Hodge a minute later brought the home team within 6-7.
Fasnacht was the last Red Devil to add to the Dickinson lead with a pair from the charity stripe at 13:38.
Hodge followed the Dickinson score with a layup at 13:44, pulling the Bullets within one, while Keriann Van Nostrand (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan Reg.) gave the Bullets the two-point lead with a 3-pointer at 12:56. Dickinson got no closer the rest of the contest.
Hewes, playing in her last collegiate game, scored six points and added four rebounds while fellow senior Sarah Payne (Dallastown, PA/Dallastown) ended her college days with a nine-point performance. Drevna also added nine points in the winning effort.
Gettysburg ends the 2000-01 season with an 18-6 overall record and a 9-5 Centennial Conference record.
