GETTYSBURG, PA – Joy Byers went 3-for-7 including two doubles and a home run as York defeated Gettysburg 5-4 and 5-2 in non-conference softball action on Thursday.

Mandy Wilson (McClure, PA/Indian Valley) had two hits and knocked in two runs as the Bullets fell to 6-3 overall.

In game one, the Spartans tied the game 2-2 on a homerun by Byers and then took the lead on a two-RBI double by Marci Green to make it 4-2 in the top of the sixth.

The Bullets then tied the game 4-4 on a two-RBI single by Wilson in the bottom of the sixth, but York responded with a RBI single by Byers to score the Spartans final run of the game.

Gettysburg took an early 2-0 lead on an RBI single by Megan Procaccini (Ship Bottom, NJ/Peddie School) and Adrienne Simmons (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone).

 York (16-0) scored four runs on a RBI double by Byers and Jen Kuran as well as a RBI single by Staci Lehn to take the lead in the top of the seventh.

 Gettysburg managed to score one run in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough as the Spartans collected the sweep.

 For the Bullets, Emily Boardman (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) hit safely in all nine games this season.

 Gettysburg opens its Centennial Conference schedule on Saturday, Mar. 24 at Washington (Md.).  Game time is 1 p.m.
