Gettysburg splits with Lebanon Valley in non-conference softball action

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Stef Mastropaolo (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) went 4-for-8 on the day, including a double, triple, homerun and six RBI as Gettysburg split a doubleheader with Lebanon Valley, 9-3 and 8-0 in non-conference softball action on Tuesday.

Mandy Wilson (McClure, PA/Indian Valley) went 3-for-8 with one RBI and two runs scored while Emily Boardman (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) went 3-for-6 with one RBI on the day.

Jenna Pabst (Boonton Twp., NJ/Mountain Lakes) and Adrienne Simmons (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) each went 3-for-6 while Megan Procaccini (Ship Bottom, NJ/Peddie School) went 3-for-7 with one run scored and one RBI. Pabst had two RBI and scored two runs while Simmons added one RBI and scored two runs.

The Bullets broke a 2-all tie and scored the go ahead run in the fifth on a RBI single by Mastropaolo scoring Pabst, but the Dutchmen scored seven runs on seven hits in the seventh inning to defeat Gettysburg 9-3 in game one.

Gettysburg took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a two-RBI double by Mastropaolo, but Lebanon Valley rallied back to tie it 2-all in the fifth inning.

Kendra McQullis belted a two-out triple to start the rally, then scored on a RBI single by Kendra Atkinson. Atkinson moved to second on a single by Heather Domarack, then scored on an RBI single by Kristen Crouse to make it 2-2.

Erin Taylor (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) gave up 13 hits while striking out one in seven innings as she picks up the loss and drops to 9-2 on the season.

In game two, Mastropaolo collected three RBI on a three-run homerun in the sixth inning as Gettysburg scored six runs on seven hits to defeat Lebanon Valley 8-0 in six innings.

Procaccini reached on an error, stole second and scored on a two-out RBI single by Pabst to make it 1-0.

Wilson then started the third inning with a single, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch by Jessica Cooney and scored on a RBI single by Boardman.

Pabst reached on a one-out single in the sixth, went to third on a double by Simmons and scored on a RBI single by Wilson to make it 3-0.

Mastropaolo scored Simmons and Wilson on a three-run homer as she collected her fifth and sixth RBI of the day. Jen White (Quakertown, PA/Pennridge) reached on a two-out single and was re-placed by Jenna McRee (Norwich, VT/Hanover) as a pinch runner.

McRee went to second on a single by Courtney Todd (Eagle, ID/Centennial), moved to third on a fielders choice and scored on a RBI single by Procaccini to make it 7-0. Todd then scored the Bullets final run on an infield error to end the game in the sixth inning.

Sarah Stokes (Towson, MD/Towson) pitched six innings allowing four hits to improve to 2-1 this season.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, Apr. 18 with a Centennial Conference doubleheader at home against Franklin & Marshall.  Game one starts at 3:00 p.m.
