GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Stephanie Mastropaolo (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) went 4-for-7, on the day with two triples and two RBI to help Gettysburg sweep two games from Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Saturday.
Mandy Wilson (McClure, PA/Indian Valley) went 3-for-4 scoring two runs and posting one RBI as the Bullets defeated Haveford 8-2 in game one. For the Fords (1-22, 1-7 CC), Kaitlyn Luther went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Mastropaolo collected two singles, two triples and two RBI as she went 4-for-4 in the second game to lead Gettysburg (13-4, 5-1 CC) past Haverford 9-4. Luther and Allison Tan each went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Haverford.
For Gettysburg, Erin Taylor (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) and Lisa von dem Hagen (Berwyn, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) each tallied a win while improving to 7-1 and 5-0, respectively.
The Fords took an early 1-0 lead in the first as they Gettysburg scoreless and hitless in the first three innings. The Bullets would take the lead with all eight runs of their runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 8-1.
Wilson started the fourth inning with a single, then went from first to third on a passed ball and scored on an RBI single by Jen White (Quakertown, PA/Pennridge). White then stole second and scored on a two-out single by Kristi Patterson (Margate, NJ/Atlantic City).
Megan Procaccini (Ship Bottom, NJ/Peddie School) walked, then Patterson scored on a two-out RBI single by Taylor to make it 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Procaccini scored on a passed ball followed by a walk to Jenna Pabst (Boonton Twp., NJ/Mountain Lakes).
Adrienne Simmons (Douglassville, PA/ Daniel Boone) and Wilson each used an RBI single to score Taylor and Pabst, respectively, to make it 6-1. The Bullets added their final runs on a pair of errors.
In game two, the Fords used a one hit, three run second inning to break a 1-all tie and make it 3-1. Gettysburg regained the lead using three hits and four runs in the third inning as the Bullets held Haverford scoreless for the next four innings.
Gettysburg's Jessi Jordan (Aurora, NY/Southern Cayuga Central) walked followed by a walk to Pabst. Jordan and Pabst would move up a base on a passed ball, then Jordan would score on another passed ball and Pabst would score on an error to cut the lead to 4-3.
Wilson had a one-out single, then went to second on a passed ball, stole third and scored on an RBI single by Mastropaolo to tie it 4-all. White then sacrificed Mastropaolo to second.
Courtney Todd (Eagle, ID/Centennial) scored Mastropaolo with a two-out RBI single to make it 5-4 and give Gettysburg its first lead of the game. The Bullets would score one run on an RBI triple by Mastropaolo in the fifth and three runs in the sixth as they went on to win game two 9-4.
Procaccini tripled in the fifth inning of game one while Mastropaolo tripled in the first and fifth innings of game two.
Gettysburg returns to action on Tuesday, Apr. 10 with a Centennial Conference doubleheader against Dickinson. The first game starts at 5 p.m.
