COLLEGEVILLE, Pa - Jenny Line (Carlisle,
PA/Carlisle) headed in the game-winning goal in overtime
to help Gettysburg defeat Ursinus 3-2 in each team's first
conference game of the year on Saturday.
Line scored the game-winning shot, and her first collegiate
goal, off a Liz Wesolowski (White Plains, NY/Ursinus)
assist from the right in the 93rd minute.
Courtney Barth tied the game in the 87th minute when
she headed the ball passed Bullet goalkeeper Carine Doyle
(Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan).
The Bears took the early lead when Kim Paulus scored
off assists from Jess Troutman and Kristen Dincher
in the 27th minute.
Minutes later, Gettysburg's Katie Langmore (Boxboro, MA/Acton)
scored to knot the game at 1-1 with her first goal of
the season from a pass from Molly Bauer (Camp Hill,PA/Camp
Hill) in the 34th minute.
The Bullets took a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute when Christina
DiTucci (East Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) scored
her first collegiate goal from a Bauer assist.
Gettysburg outshot Ursinus 13-5. Doyle had one save in he
game for the Bullets while Erin Cartwell made five stops for
the Bears.
Gettysburg improves to 4-2 on the year and 1-0 in the Centennial
Conference while Ursinus falls to 1-2-2 on the year and 0-1
in conference play. The Bullets travel top-ranked and defending
national champion College of New Jersey Wednesday. Game time
is 6 p.m.
