Box Score
YORK, Pa. - Will Hohman (Landenberg, PA/St.
Marks) and Michael McLaughlin (Swampscott, MA/Northfield
Mt. Hermon) each scored a goal to lead Gettysburg past
York 2-1 in non-conference action on Wednesday.
Hohman scored the first goal of the game, and his second of
the season from a Cameron MacLean (Riverside, CT/Greenwich)
assist in the 18th minute.
McLaughlin shot a rocket into the high-right netting off a
free kick, his first goal of the season, in the 43rd minute
to give the Bullets a 2-0 lead.
The Spartans got on the scoreboard in the 58th minute when
Art Noecker won a one-on-one battle with Bullet goalkeeper
Steve Kopp (Upper Monclair, NJ/Montclair) to cut the
deficit to 2-1.
York missed a great scoring opportunity at the start of the
second half when Kopp jumped and knocked the ball over the
top of the goal from a Steve Davis shot.
The Bullets outshot the Spartans 11-8 in the game. Kopp had
five saves for Gettysburg while Justin Detig had six
stops for York. The Bullets are 6-1 on the season, which is
their best start since 1998. The Spartans fall to 5-3 on the
year.
Gettysburg returns to action Saturday when they face conference-rival
Muhlenberg College. Game time is 1 p.m.
