HAVERFORD, Pa. – Sophomore Will Hohman
(Landenberg, PA/St. Marks) scored two goals to help
lift Gettysburg past Haverford 3-1 in Centennial Conference
(CC) men’s soccer action on Saturday.
Hohman tallied his third goal of the
season when he netted an unassisted goal at 29:57 to put the
Bullets on the board first.
Freshman David Pone (Bordentown,
NJ/Bordentown) scored his first collegiate goal at
19:12 to boost Gettysburg’s lead to 2-0.
Senior Matt Duques got
the Fords (6-2, 3-1 CC) within a 2-1 margin late in the game
on an assist by teammate Jordan Brown at 15:08,
but Gettysburg (7-3, 3-2 CC) clawed their way back into the
Centennial Conference playoff chase.
Hohman put the finishing touch on the
game with his team-leading fourth goal of the year and the
Bullets’ final goal of the game at 14:08. Michael
Sarbaugh (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) collected
the assist on Hohman’s final goal of the day.
Steve Kopp (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair)
had a season-high eight saves for Gettysburg while Dan
DiBruno had six stops for Haverfod.
The Fords outshot the Bullets 11-10, but Gettysburg
held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bullets, ranked seventh in the region,
return to action on Thursday, Oct. 4 against Lycoming in non-conference
action. Match begins at 4 p.m.
