BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Steph Drevna (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) led five players in double figures with 13 points – including the 1,000th of her collegiate career – to lift Gettysburg over Bryn Mawr 76-34 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Saturday.
Drevna, who went 6-for-12 from the floor, became the sixth player in program history to score 1,000 career points by drilling her lone 3-pointer of the game with 12:11 remaining in the first half.
The milestone shot started a 20-0 run that turned a 12-point lead into a 38-6 advantage with 4:12 remaining in the first half.
Jay Hodge (Silver Spring, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) recorded 12 points and Dana Bear (Lansdale, PA/Lansdale Catholic) chipped in 11. Adrienne Lampe (Dumont, NJ/Dumont) and Emily Falk (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs) each added 10 points apiece for Gettysburg (8-8, 4-4 CC).
Tania Romero led Bryn Mawr with 12 points in a losing effort.
The Mawrters (3-14, 1-9 CC) were no match for the Bullets, who scored 38 of the game's first 44 points in the opening 16 minutes and continued to dominate throughout the second half to end a three-game losing streak.
After the two teams traded baskets in the first four minutes, Gettysburg went on 13-0 run in four minutes before Bryn Mawr got on the board again.
Lampe started the run with a jumper at the 16:10 mark and Drevna hit a jumper to put the Bullets up, 7-4.
Elizabeth Ross (Chestertown, MD/St. Andrew's School) and Drevna each hit a pair of jumpers before Hodge scored back-to-back buckets to cap the run with 13 minutes remaining in the half and give Gettysburg an 18-4 lead.
Lara Owens broke the scoring drought with a jumper for Bryn Mawr to make the score 18-6.
Drevna then hit a 3-pointer at the 12:11 mark to pass 1,000 points for her career.
The Mawrters did end the last three minutes of the half on a 9-4 run, but the Bullets went into the locker room with a 42-17 lead.
Behind two baskets from Hodge and one from Ross, Gettysburg went on a 6-0 to start the second half and outscored the Mawrters 34-17 in the second half en route to the victory.
Falk and Drevna led the Bullets with seven steals apiece.
With 1,007 career points, Drevna is now 41 points behind Jen Dravis for fifth place on the program's all-time list.
Gettysburg returns to action on Monday at Lebanon Valley. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
