Seven Gettysburg players find twine; Bullets defeat Washington, 8-0

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Maggie Cirrito (Garden City, NJ/Garden City) scored two goals to lead Gettysburg past Washington (Md.) 8-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.

Cirrito scored her first two goals of the season after tallying a goal and an assist in her freshman campaign.

Christina DiTucci (East Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) scored the game-winning goal and added an assist. The sophomore leads the squad with four goals and three assists for 11 points. Katie Ferarro (Westminster, CO/St. Mary's Acad.) notched her second goal and second assist on the season in the winning effort.

Jennifer Chapman led the Shorewomen (7-7, 2-3 CC) with eight saves.

The Bullets (8-3-2, 4-1) took control of the game with five goals in the first half and never looked back for their fourth consecutive victory.

DiTucci scored 49 seconds into the contest to give Gettysburg an early 1-0 lead.

Jenny Line (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) found the twine in the seventh minute for her third goal of the season.

Cirrito and Ashley Froman (Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven) each collected their first goals of the season 40 seconds apart. Cirrito scored off a DiTucci assist at 26:30 and then Froman netted a goal at the 27:10 mark of a Julia Girman (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) .

Leah Hyde (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) chipped the ball over Chapman's head into the netting in the 36th minute off a Lauren Melillo (Boalsburg, PA/Lewisburg) assist to give Gettysburg a 5-0 lead.

Cirrito gave the Bullets a 6-0 lead with goal past a diving Chapman in the 70th minute off a Ferarro assist.

Ferraro netted a goal off a Line assist with 15 minute, 17 seconds remaining in the game. Carla Roehrich (Shelton, CT/St. Joseph) scored 1 minute, 12 seconds later to seal the victory off a Line assist.

Katie Simmons (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) and Carine Doyle (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) combined for the shutout. Simmons played the first half making two saves while Doyle finished the contest with three saves.

The Bullets return to action on Wednesday when they host Johns Hopkins in CC action. Game time is 4 p.m.
