GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Jessica Cortese (Lancaster,
PA/Hempfield) knocked down 23 kills and collected
six digs in two matches to lead Gettysburg past Muhlenberg
3-0 and Washington 3-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball
action on Saturday.
Nicole Barr (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck)
posted a team-high 13 kills and four digs while Erin
Barkdoll (Dover, PA/Dover) tallied nine kills to help
the Bullets defeat the Mules 30-22, 30-22 and 30-22 in match
one.
In Gettysburg's second match, the Bullets
downed Washington 30-19, 30-23 and 30-14 with the help from
Barr who collected eight kills, 10 digs and three aces.
Senior Lauren Boyd (Millersville, MD/Severna
Park) dished out a team-high 39 assists against Muhlenberg
and 21 against Washington.
Freshman Shannan Smith (Milmont Park,
PA/Ridley) collected 15 assists and Cortese added
11 kills in the second match.
Gettysburg (14-11, 5-1 CC) won its second
consecutive match against the Mules with today's victory.
The Bullets lost to Muhlenberg in the regular season, but
got revenge with a win over the Mules in the CC title match
last year.
The Bullets return to action on Wednesday
against Johns Hopkins. Match time is 7 p.m.
