Three second-half goals help St. Mary's defeat No. 3 Gettysburg, 3-0

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Brian Wolcott scored the game-winning goal to help St. Mary's upset third-ranked Gettysburg 3-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Tuesday.

Wolcott tallied two goals and an assist to help the Seahawks (12-4) hand the Bullets (11-1-2) their first loss of the season.

Bobby Ratcliffe assisted on both of Wolcott's goals and Nathaniel Graham netted the other goal in the winning effort.

Steve Kopp (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair) made a career-high 12 saves for Gettysburg. Kopp's consecutive scoreless streak ends at 783:56, which ranks fifth all-time in NCAA Division III history. It was the first time the Bullets gave up a goal in five games.

Gettysburg and St. Mary's battled for 62 scoreless minutes before the Seahawks found the twine and never looked back for its 12th victory of the year.

Ratcliffe served the ball into the middle where Wolcott knocked in the goal in the 63rd minute. Seven minutes, 30 seconds later the Wolcott-Ratcliffe tandem found the twine again to give the Seahawks a 2-0 advantage.

With 51 seconds remaining in the contest, Wolcott found Graham to seal the Seahawks victory.

St. Mary's outshot Gettysburg 28-10, but Gettysburg missed several scoring opportunities in the contest.

Andrew Maynard (Reading, PA/Exeter) had Seahawks goalkeeper Brian Morrison one-on-one, but missed high in the fifth minute.

An apparent David Pone (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown) goal was called back because Pone was called for offsides in the 45th minute.

Morrison, who made nine stops in the game, made a diving save to his left off the foot of Malcolm Thomas (Alabany, NH/North Yarmouth Acad.) in the 64th minute.

Morrison then came away with the save against Will Hohman (Landenberg, PA/St. Marks) in the 76th minute.

Michael Sarbaugh (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) gave the Bullets their final scoring opportunity in the game, but missed high with 1 minute, 8 seconds remaining.

Gettysburg return to action on Saturday when the Bullets host Franklin & Marshall. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
