This is the Bullets (14-11, 6-1 CC) second consecutive win over Johns Hopkins (18-17, 7-1 CC) this year, following a 3-1 victory in the Battlefield Classic on Sept. 7.

Sophomores Erin Barkdoll (Dover, PA/Dover) and Jessica Cortese (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) each tallied 11 kills to help Gettysburg defeat the Blue Jays 30-28, 30-25 and 30-28 to and hand Johns Hopkins its first conference loss of the season.

Trailing 5-0 early in game one, the Bullets took their first timeout. Undaunted by the stop, the Blue Jays would expand their lead to 24-15 and force Gettysburg's second timeout.

Down by nine, the Bullets used a 13-2 run to spark the comeback that gave them the lead for good in the game and in the three set match. Kills from Cortese and Barr closed the game for a 1-0 edge in the match.

In game two, Johns Hopkins scored five straight points to take the lead at 15-14. Gettysburg quickly regained the lead with a 5-0 run to make it 20-15. The Bullets held onto their lead to win the second game with the help of two kills by Barr.

The two teams battled back-and-forth in game three until two kills by Cortese and a kill from Barr gave Gettysburg a 28-21 advantage. The Bullets withstood a 6-0 Blue Jay run to win the third game on an Erica Rau (Oakland Park, FL/Pine Crest) kill.

Senior Lauren Boyd (Millersville, MD/Severna Park), the current CC Player of the Week, dished out a team-high 46 assists and nine digs for Gettysburg.

The Bullets return to action on Friday at the Carnegie Mellon Tournament. Matches begin at 6 p.m.
