BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Julia Girman (Cherry
Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) scored the eventual game-winner
to lead Gettysburg past Bryn Mawr 5-1 in Centennial Conference
(CC) action on Saturday.
Girman scored her first goal of the season
and third goal of her career. The last time the senior found
the twine was against Swarthmore on Oct. 21, 2000.
Shelley Starzyk netted the
lone goal for the Owls (4-8, 0-5 CC), while Kristi Weisbrich
made eight saves in the losing effort.
The Bullets (6-3-2, 2-1 CC) took control
early in the game and cruised to their sixth victory of the
year.
Liz Wesolowski (White Plains, NY/Ursiline),
who recorded an assist in a 1-0 victory against Elizabethtown
on Thursday, scored her first goal of the season in the 13th
minute to give Gettysburg an early 1-0 lead.
Girman increased the Bullets lead with a
goal in the 39 minute and Gettysburg went into halftime with
ahead 2-0.
Christina DiTucci (East Rochester,
NY/Our Lady of Mercy) fed Katie Ferarro (Westminster,
CO/St. Mary's Acad.) for her first collegiate goal
in the 47th minute.
Michele Friedmann (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing)
netted her second goal of the season off a corner kick in
the 60th minute.
Katie Langmore (Boxboro, MA/Acton-Boxboro)
sealed the Bullets victory with her third goal off a Maggie
Cirrito (Garden City, NJ/Garden City) assist in the
69th minute.
With Gettysburg leading 5-0, Staryzk scored
off a Bridget Dolphin assist in the 84th minute.
The Bullets outshot Bryn Mawr 13-2 in the
game with Shelley Solt recording the only other
Owls' shot in the contest.
The Bullets return to action on Wednesday
when they travel to McDaniel. Game time is 4 p.m.
