Bauer-Girman tandem leads Gettysburg past McDaniel, 1-0

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Julia Girman (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) scored the game-winner to lead Gettysburg past McDaniel 1-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Wednesday.

Girman netted her second goal of the season and second straight game-winning goal. Molly Bauer (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) recorded her first assist of the year in the winning effort.

Candi Kuligowski made two saves for the Green Terror (8-5-1, 3-2-1 CC).

Both teams battled for 65 minutes before the Bullets (7-3-2, 3-1 CC) scored in the 65 minute and never looked back for their seventh victory of the season

After McDaniel was called for a handball, Bauer punched the free kick right in front of the goal on the left side and Girman found the twine over Kuligowski in the 66th minute.

The Green Terror outshot Gettysburg 9-7, but missed several scoring opportunities in the contest.

Bullets' goalkeeper Katie Simmons (Altamont, NY/Guilderland), who made four stops in the game, knocked Becky Ward's shot over the crossbar in the 23rd minute. Simmons made saves on two

Melissa Merson shots in the 24th and 55th minute.

Christine Mayne's shot was saved in the 53rd minute and then Boughter missed wide with Simmons out of position in the 57th minute.

Lauren Cramer gave McDaniel its final scoring threat when she had Simmons one-on-one, but missed wide to the left in the 91st minute.

Gettysburg's Christina DiTucci (East Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) gave the Bullets their best scoring opportunity in the first half when her shot hit the cross bar in the 45th minute.

Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday when the Bullets travel to Washington in CC action. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
