Falk leads Gettysburg past Haverford, 78-45 in CC action

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Emily Falk (Boiling Spring, PA/Boiling Spring) scored a career-high 17 points to lead Gettysburg past Haverford 78-45 in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s basketball action on Tuesday.

Falk went 7-for-13 from the floor, including two 3-pointers to help the Bullets (3-1, 1-0 CC) to their third consecutive victory.

Dana Bear (Lansdale, PA/Lansdale Catholic) recorded 14 points, including 4 of 6 from behind the arc while Jay Hodge (Silver Spring, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds. Hodge moves into ninth place on the program’s all-time list with 523 rebounds.

Claire Scribner led the Fords (2-1, 0-1 CC) with 15 points in the loss.

Haverford jumped out a 17-11 lead, but Gettysburg answered and never looked back to cruise to its 10th victory against the Fords in as many meetings.

After Scribner converted on a three-point play to give Haverford a 17-11 lead with 9:08 remaining in the first half, Gettysburg went on a 22-8 run to end the half.

Elizabeth Ross (Chestertown, MD/St. Andrew's School) scored a layup and hit the free throw, but Meredith Foote hit from behind the arc to make the score 20-14 with 8:23 left.

The Bullets then went on a 9-0 run in a three-minute span to take a 23-20 lead.

Ross started the run with a jumper before Hodge knocked down a pair of jumpers to tie the game at 20 with 5:25 on the clock. Bear gave Gettysburg the lead with a 3-pointer 44 seconds later.

Jamie Rosenberger ended the run with a pair of free throws, but the Bullets answered with seven points to grab a 30-22 lead with 1:37 remaining until halftime.

Falk scored six of the seven points for Gettysburg in the run and Bengel added a free throw.

Katie Crowley made both of her free throws before Falk scored a trey with 1:02 left. Rosenberger hit 1 of 2 free throws to end the half.

In the second half, Caitie Kimura knocked down a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 37-30 just 2:26 into the second half, but Gettysburg went on a 22-0 run to take a 27-point lead.

The Bullets return to action on Dec. 5 at Ursinus. Game time is 7 p.m.
