Johns Hopkins defeats Gettysburg 3-2 to secure No. 3 seed in CC tournament

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Meg McIntosh scored the game-winner in the 106th minute to lead Johns Hopkins past Gettysburg 3-2 in double overtime Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Tuesday.

With the victory, the Blue Jays (12-5-2, 7-2-1 CC) secured the No. 3 seed in the CC tournament on Saturday and will battle the No. 2 seed Franklin & Marshall. The Bullets (10-6-2, 6-4 CC) are the No. 4 seed in the tournament and battle No. 1 and host Muhlenberg in the two-day tournament. The game times will be announced on Wednesday.

McIntosh scored her sixth and seventh goals in the contest while Sandra Lebo assisted on both of McIntosh's goals in the winning effort. Shannon O'Malley made 12 saves for Johns Hopkins.

Liz Wesolowski (White Plains, NJ/Ursline) and Christina DiTucci (East Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) each tallied goals for Gettysburg.

The Blue Jays took a quick 1-0 lead before the Bullets scored two unanswered goals to take a 2-1 lead, but Johns Hopkins scored the final two goals to come away with their 12th victory of the season.

After the Blue Jays scored on an own goal in the 63rd minute to tie the game at 2, McIntosh found left netting off a Lebo free kick a yard outside the goalie box in the 106th minute.

The McIntosh-Lebo tandem opened the scoring when McIntosh scored on a deflection off a Lebo assist in the fifth minute.

Wesolowski popped the ball over O'Malley's head into the netting for her second goal of the season four minutes, 14 seconds later to knot the game at 1.

DiTucci scored her team-leading sixth goal on her own rebounded shot off O'Malley in the 63rd minute.

Gettysburg outshot Johns Hopkins 16-8, but missed several scoring opportunities in the game.

The Bullets best scoring threat came when Gettysburg had four shots on goal in a one minute, 25 seconds time span.

Leah Hyde (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) had her shot saved by O'Malley before DiTucci, Julia Girman (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) and Michele Friedmann (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) had three straight shots knocked away by O'Malley in the 23rd minute.

O'Malley made a diving save to her right off the foot of DiTucci in the 86th minute and Katie Langmore (Boxboro, MA/Acton-Boxboro) had a two-on-one break, but O'Malley made the diving save at the top of the goalie box in the 87th minute.

Maggie Cirrito (Garden City, NJ/Garden City) gave Gettysburg its final two scoring chances in the game, but O'Malley made the stops in the 102nd and 106th minute.

Katie Simmons (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) made three saves in the losing effort.
