Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Becky Bucha (Waccabuc, NY/John Jay) and Amy Farrell (Ambler, PA/Upper Dublin) scored four goals apiece as ninth-ranked Gettysburg took a 9-0 lead in the first 10 minutes and cruised to a 22-5 win over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s lacrosse action on Saturday.

Bucha added one assist to move into a tie for second place on the Bullets’ all-time points list with Pam Williams (233 from 1985-88). Farrell’s four-goal day was a career best for the sophomore.

Anna Haugen (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) (2 goals, 2 assists), Candace Fisch (New Canaan, CT/Lawrenceville [NJ]) (2,2) and Megan Murphy (Wilton, CT/Wilton) (1,3) also enjoyed four-point performances as Gettysburg (10-2, 6-1 CC) won its sixth straight game and improved to 9-0 all-time against the Mawrters (2-7, 0-7 CC).

Millie Bond and Leah Freeman tallied a pair of goals for Bryn Mawr while goalie Claire Goldsmith recorded 11 saves on 39 Bullet shots.

Farrell scored off the opening draw control just 11 seconds into the game and Fisch set up Casey Costello (Tiburon, CA/Santa Catalina School) at 1:36 for a quick 2-0 lead. Haugen re-created Farrell’s unassisted goal 11 seconds later and Bucha scored twice in a span of 37 seconds to make it 5-0.

Farrell capped her hat trick by scoring two goals 25 seconds apart for a 7-0 advantage. Murphy found the net at 8:22, then set up Julika Blankenship (Crumpton, MD/Kent County) one minute later.

Bond snapped the 9-0 run and put the Mawrters on the board with an unassisted marker at 13:03.

Goals from Freeman and Casey Cross pulled Bryn Mawr within 10-3, but two goals apiece from Fisch and Kathryn Grassel (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills East) keyed a 6-0 Bullet run to the end of the half.

Bucha netted an unassisted goal with 18:30 remaining for her 233rd career point. Farrell’s career-best fourth goal came off an assist from Jacquie O’Connor (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) with 7:44 left. Fisch’s four-point outing tied a career high.
