ANNVILLE, Pa. - Dawn Rumbley
netted the game-winning goal to lead Lebanon Valley past No.
17 Gettysburg 1-0 in non-conference women's soccer action
on Wednesday.
With the goal, Rumbley tied Robyn LaRosa
on the Flying Dutchmen's all-time points list with 66 points.
Jess Conrad made nine saves
on 14 shots to earn the shutout for Lebanon Valley. Katie
Simmons (Alamont, NY/Guilderland) made two saves for
the Bullets (3-1-2).
After a defensive struggle through 45 minutes,
the Flying Dutchmen took a 1-0 lead and kept Gettysburg off
the scoreboard to hand the Bullets their first loss of the
season.
Twenty-two seconds into the second half,
Jess Coles found Rumbley wide open down the
left side and Rumbley found the left twine for the game-winning
goal.
Gettysburg outshot Lebanon Valley 14-5, but
missed several scoring opportunities.
Liz Feldhusen (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxboro)
had an open goal with Conrad out of position, but defender
Jessica Stoltzfus drove the potential game-tying
goal out of the net in the 60th minute.
Christina DiTucci (East Rochester,
NY/Our Lady of Mercy) shot was knocked away, but the
Bullets were called offsides before they could knock in the
rebound.
Feldhusen gave Gettysburg its last scoring
threat, but Conrad came up with the ball with two minutes
remaining in the game.
The Bullets return to action on Saturday
in their Centennial Conference opener against Ursinus. Game
time is 12:30 p.m.
