GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Liz Feldhusen (Acton,
MA/Acton-Boxboro) and Abby Templeton (Denver,
CO/East) each recorded a goal and an assist to lead
17th-ranked Gettysburg past Ursinus 5-1 in the Centennial
Conference (CC) opener for both teams on Saturday.
Feldhusen tallied her third goal and third
assist of the season while Templeton scored her first-collegiate
goal and assist.
Freshmen Michele Friedmann (Wyomissing,
PA/Wyomissing), Leah Hyde (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury)
and Kristin Igusky (Sinking Springs, PA/Holy
Name) each notched their first-collegiate goal in
the winning effort.
Deborah Jensen scored the lone
goal for the Bears (3-4, 0-1 CC) and Emily LeFevre
made five saves in the losing effort.
Ursinus grabbed an early 1-0 lead, but the
Bullets (4-1-2, 1-0 CC) scored five unanswered goals to win
their fourth contest of the year.
After Jensen scored in the 19th minute, the
Bullets posted three goals in a span of 5 minutes, 25 seconds.
Feldhusen beat the Bear defense and booted
the ball to the right of LeFevre in the 31st minute to knot
the game at 1.
The Bullets took the lead for good 2 minutes,
25 seconds later when Feldhusen set up Igusky for the 2-1
advantage.
Friedmann, who has recorded two assists on
the season, scored the third goal of the game off a Templeton
assist in the 37th minute.
Templeton gave the Bullets a 4-1 lead with
a drive into the netting from 15-yards out off a Maggie
Cirrito (Garden City, NY/Garden City) assist in the
79th minute.
Ten minutes later Hyde sealed the Gettysburg
victory off Katie Ferraro's (Westminster, CO/St. Mary's
Academy) first collegiate assist.
The Bullets outshot Ursinus 16-2 with Jess
Troutman missing wide in the 73rd minute for the Bears
second shot.
Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday
when they host No. 12 Messiah. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
