ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Mike Bevilacqua (Marshfield,
MA/Thayer Acad.) scored three-goals to lead 13th-ranked
Gettysburg past Muhlenberg 3-0 in Centennial Conference (CC)
men's soccer action on Saturday.
Bevilacqua, who recorded two goals in a 3-1
win against Susquehanna on Tuesday, notched his first career
hat trick. It is the second hat trick of the season after
David Pone (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown) posted
a three-goal trick against Westminster on Aug. 30. The senior
has scored a team-leading eight goals on the year.
Steve Kopp (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair)
made three saves to run his scoreless streak to 379 minutes
in the winning effort. Chris Davis made three
stops for the Mules (6-4, 1-1 CC).
The Bullets (7-0-2, 2-0 CC) jumped out a
quick lead and never looked back for their first regular season
victory against Muhlenberg since a 3-0 win in 1998.
Bevilacqua blasted a shot from 18-yards out
into the upper-left netting 3 minutes, 41 seconds into the
game to give Gettysburg a 1-0 lead.
Nine minutes later Bevilacqua scored from
nine yards and then sealed the Bullets victory with his third
goal of the contest on a breakaway in the 35th minute.
Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday
when they travel to ninth-ranked Messiah. Game time is 7 p.m.
