GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior setter Lauren Boyd (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) dished out a team-high 54 assists in a 3-1 win over Johns Hopkins to give Gettysburg its third win on the second day of the Battlefield Classic. Boyd tallied 129 assists on the day and was the only Bullet named to the 2002 All-Tournament team.

Nicole Barr (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) tallied 22 kills, 30 digs, and 19 assists in the three matches to lead Gettysburg past Seton Hill, Gallaudet and Johns Hopkins.

The Bullets rallied back from a 30-28 loss in the opening game against Johns Hopkins to capture the next three sets and win their final match, 3-1 (28-30, 30-21, 30-24, 30-21). Jessica Cortese (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) knocked down 17 kills while Barr was one assist away from a triple-double with 17 kills, 15 digs and nine assists.

The Bullets took a 2-1 lead, using a 9-3 run in game three to pull away 26-23. Jessica Cortese added two kills to clinch the set.

In game four, Gettysburg kept the momentum going and jumped ahead 28-18. Johns Hopkins took the next two points but wouldn't come any closer as Barr and Cortese each recorded a kill to notch their squad's third win of the day.

After the Blue Jays scored four consecutive points to tie the game at 16, the Bullets reeled off a 4-0 run of their own and never trailed again in game two. Margaret Hallahan (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon) served two aces to close out the set 30-21.

In the first match of the day, the Bullets came out ready for Seton Hill, winning game one 30-23.

In game two, the Spirit went on a 6-0 run, capitalizing on four Bullet errors and taking the game 30-27. Trailing game three 7-6 with the match tied at one game apiece, Gettysburg used a 7-0 run to take the lead for good and go on to win 30-25. Powered by four of Boyd's six aces, the Bullets scored 10 of the game's first 12 points and never trailed the rest of the way. Seton Hill rallied to within 19-18, but Gettysburg responded with 11 of the game's final 13 points to halt the rally. Erica Rau (Oakland Park, FL/Pine Crest) knocked in her 12th kill to close the match.

Against Gallaudet, the Bullets dominated the first two games, winning 30-18 and 30-21. The Bison took an early 10-4 lead in game three, but the Bullets rallied back to take a 26-23 advantage, before All-Tournament team selection Raylene Lotz knocked in two aces to knot the game at 26. Gallaudet's two attacking errors gave Gettysburg the win to clinch its division.
