FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Steve Kopp (Upper
Montclair, NJ/Montclair) made nine saves as Gettysburg
and No. 11 Mary Washington battled to a scoreless final in
the Mary Washington Classic on Saturday.
Kopp collected a season-high nine saves as
the Bullets (2-0-1) notched their second consecutive shutout
on the season.
Brian Hall made six stops for
the Eagles (1-0-1) to earn the shutout. In a rematch of the
first round of the NCAA tournament last season, the two teams
battled through two overtimes, but the game ended in a standstill.
Both teams missed on several scoring opportunities
to break the scoreless draw in the game, but both netminders
made several key saves to keep their opponent off the scoreboard.
Mary Washington's Marc Salotti
went one-on-one with Kopp on two occasions, but Kopp nabbed
the save on both shots.
Gettysburg's best threat came in overtime
when David Pone's (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown)
shot hit the right goalpost.
The Bullets return to action on Sunday against
Marymount in the Mary Washington Classic. Game time is 1 p.m.
