Local product Falk leads Gettysburg past Dickinson, 89-65

CARLISLE, Pa. - Local product Emily Falk (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs) scored a career-high 26 points to lead Gettysburg past Dickinson 89-65 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Wednesday.

Falk who recorded all 11 points in the second half of a 71-62 victory against Albright on Monday, went 9-for-13 shooting from the field, 3-for-5 from behind the arc and 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. She also tied a career-high with five assists along with six rebounds.

Jen Bengel (Timonium, MD/Roland Park Country School) added 17 points and five rebounds. Elizabeth Ross (Chestertown, MD/St. Andrew's School) tallied a season-best 16 points while Dana Bear (Lansdale, PA/Lansdale Catholic) chipped in 12 points, going 4-of-7 from 3-point land in the winning effort.

The Bullets, who shot 52 percent in an 84-71 victory against Westminster on Jan. 3, went 32-for-64 shooting from the field against the Red Devils.

Julie Younes led Dickinson (6-11, 3-4 CC) with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Tracee Mosch, who had four treys coming into the game, scored a season-high 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field and 3-for-6 from behind the arc. The Bullets (13-5, 5-3 CC) held Megan Shelley, who came into the game leading the CC with 18.8 points per game, to only three points.

After the two squads battled back-and-forth for the first 5:12 of the contest before Gettysburg grabbed the advantage and never looking back to cruise to their 13th victory of the year.

Younes gave the Red Devils a 9-8 lead with 14:36 remaining in the first half before the Bullets went on 10-0 run to take a 17-8 lead.

Falk started the run with basket off the glass at the 14:36 mark and Bengel then converted a layup. Jay Hodge (Silver Spring, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti), who notched four points and nine rebounds in the game, hit the back end of two free throws. After Ross drained a jumper, Bear knocked down her first 3-pointer of the game with 12:12 left until intermission for a 17-8 lead.

Dickinson cut the deficit to 21-17 with 8:07 on the clock, but Falk fueled a 15-4 run with eight points to help extend the Gettysburg lead to 36-21 with 4:45 remaining in the half.

Younes, Mosch and Shelly combined for 10 points to open the second half on a 10-2 run and bring the Red Devils within six points at 51-44, 4:34 into the final frame.

Keyed by four points from Ross, the Bullets answered with a 9-0 run for a 16-point advantage before Mosch responded with seven-straight points to cut the margin back to single digits at 62-53 with 10:32 remaining.

Gettysburg, however, ended the Dickinson comeback attempt with a 23-5 run to seal the victory.

The Bullets return to action on Saturday when they host CC rival Swarthmore. Tip-off is 4 p.m.
