GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Katie Ferraro (Westminster, CO/St. Mary's Academy) netted two goals to lead Gettysburg over Bryn Mawr 5-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.
Ferraro, who tallied her first collegiate goal against the Owls last year, notched her first two-goal performance with back-to-back goals to help the Bullets (7-3, 3-0 CC) defeat Bryn Mawr (2-5-1, 0-3 CC) for the 11th straight time and eighth shutout against the Owls.
Freshman Steph Heath (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains Fanwood) scored her first collegiate goal and tallied her first collegiate assist while Laurie Goon (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) recorded her first collegiate goal.
Sarah Caldwell made 10 saves for the Owls in the losing effort.
Gettysburg scored five unanswered goals, including four in the first half to remain undefeated in the conference and collect its third straight victory.
Heath tallied the game-winning goal and gave the Bullets an early 1-0 lead just 1:58 into the game. The freshman collected the pass from Michele Friedmann (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) and then beat the defender inside the box, before knocking her left-footed shot past Caldwell from 10 yards out.
Ferraro increased the lead when she headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner kick from Maggie Cirrito (Garden City, NJ/Garden City).
In the 44th minute, Ferraro made it 3-0 when she blasted the ball from 25 yards out off a deflection off the wall from a direct kick by Molly Bauer (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley).
Megan Murphy's (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) cross found Goon five yards out to tap in her first goal of the season with 21 seconds left in the first half to head into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
Senior Liz Wesolowski (White Plains, NY/Ursuline) scored her second goal of the season when she gathered Heath's serve beat Caldwell one-on-one in the 53rd minute for Gettysburg's final goal of the day.
The Bullets outshot Bryn Mawr 30-1 while Katie Simmons (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) made the save on Erin Cantini's left-footed shot in the first half.
Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday against McDaniel. Game time is 4 p.m.
