DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Junior Chris Borcik
(Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) and freshman Jeffrey
Collmann (Elverson, PA/Twin Valley) each tallied a
goal to lead Gettysburg over Delaware Valley 2-0 in non-conference
men's soccer action on Wednesday.
With the win, the Bullets (8-2) notched their
eighth-straight victory, a feat that has not been accomplished
by Gettysburg men's soccer since the 1999 season.
Junior Michael Garea (Reisterstown,
MD/Franklin) tallied his first assist of the season
while Borcik netted his team-leading sixth goal in the last
five games.
John Ward (Elysburg, PA/Southern Columbia)
made five saves for his fifth shutout of the year and Chris
Zirpoli recorded a season-high 17 saves for Delaware
Valley (4-8).
Borcik netted the game-winner when he scored
off a pass from Garea at the six-minute mark for a 1-0 lead.
The Bullets outshot the Aggies 11-6 in the
first half and 14-7 in the second half, only to find the back
of the net again in the 70th minute.
Collman scored his first-collegiate goal
at 69:24 to give Gettysburg a 2-0 cushion with 20 minutes
remaining in the game.
The Bullet defense, which has only given
up seven goals all season, held Delaware Valley off the scoreboard
for the shutout.
Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday
at Franklin & Marshall. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
