GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Ryan Shotzberger went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs to lead McDaniel past Gettysburg 11-2 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Tuesday.
Shotzberger hit three singles and plated two runs on an RBI single in the ninth inning to seal the victory.
Todd Huber added a 3-for-4 performance with one RBI while Kevin Salamone and Chad Keller each recorded two hits in the winning effort.
Henry Mullen (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) led the Bullets, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a triple.
The two squads battled for four innings before the Green Terror (8-4, 3-1 CC) scored 10 runs in the final five innings to cruise to victory.
With the score tied at 1, the Green Terror plated a single run in the fifth and added three in the six to take a 5-1 lead.
McDaniel took the lead for good when Chris Seibert, who started the inning with a walk, came around to score on an error. In the next frame, Keller knocked in the eventual game-winning run on a single to left field. Kellner touched home after Shotzberger reached on an error before Seibert scored on a wild pitch to take a 5-1 advantage.
The Green Terror added a run in the seventh and broke the contest open with five runs in the ninth.
The Bullets (5-8, 0-2 CC) scored a single run in the bottom of the ninth. After Mullen tripled, Justin Steele (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) plated Mullen with a sacrifice fly to right field, but could get no closer.
McDaniel started the scoring in the game with a run in the first. Shotzberger started the contest with a single and came around to score on Huber's RBI single.
Gettysburg knotted the game at 1 on Austin Ball's (Farmingdale, NY/Hills East) RBI groundout in the second.
Mike Geaneas (3-0) pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts to pick up his third victory of the year.
The Bullets return to action on Friday in Westminster against the Green Terror. Game time is 3 p.m.
