GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Jenna Pabst (Boonton, Twp., NJ/Mountain Lakes) scored the game-winning run in game two as Gettysburg split with McDaniel in a Centennial Conference (CC) doubleheader on Wednesday.
With the Bullets (21-7, 11-3 CC) trailing 2-1 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Jackie Pareso's (Washington, PA/Canevin Catholic) fly ball to right field hit the ground after two outfielders collided, allowing Katie Eiden (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Visitation [DC]) and Pabst to cross the plate for a 3-2 victory.
Sara Gutermuth (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) went a perfect 3-for-3 in game two, while Stef Mastropaolo (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) and Megan Pilarcik (Middletown, MD/Middletown) each added a 1-for-2 performance in the opener.
Eiden tallied an RBI and scored the tying run in the nightcap to help Gettysburg clinch a spot in next weekend's playoffs and snap a five-game losing streak to the Green Terror (18-5, 9-1 CC).
Samantha Abrams went 2-for-4, including one run, one double and a triple in game two while Lauren Cramer went 2-for-4 with an RBI in game one or the Green Terror.
McDaniel used a triple by Abrams to lead of in the opener followed by an RBI single to left field by Samantha Smith to knock in Abrams. Smith advanced to second on a wild pitch, third on Candice Kuligowski's single to left field, before scoring on another wild pitch for the 2-0 lead.
Despite being held scoreless for 6 ½ innings, the Bullets put three runs on the board in the seventh to capture the come-from-behind win and hand McDaniel their first conference loss of the season.
Gettysburg starter Lauren Bourne (Ogunquit, ME/Wells) allowed two runs off five hits while striking out three and walking one for her second win of the season.
In the opener, Cramer's two-run double highlighted a three-run seventh inning as the Green Terror took a 4-1 edge for the win. Abrams allowed one run on six hits while striking out three against two walks for her 10th win of the season.
Pilarcik hit a single to right field to knock in Mastropaolo for the tying run in the bottom of the third, but the Bullets were held off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
The Bullets return to action on Saturday for a doubleheader at Washington (Md.). Game one begins at 1 p.m
