HANOVER, Md. - Lee Jamison hurled a complete game to lead Villa Julie past Gettysburg 7-2 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.
Jamison allowed two runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts to help the Mustangs (11-16) to their first win against the Bullets (14-13-2) in three tries.
Henry Mullen (Massapequa Park, NJ/Massapequa) and Chris Ferris (Scituate, MA/Boston College) each recorded RBIs in the losing effort.
The two squads battled for five innings before Villa Julie scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back on its way to victory.
After Gettysburg knotted the game at 2 in the top of the fifth, Jeremy Ziegler tripled and came around to score on Andy Welling's RBI single to put the Mustangs ahead to stay. Welling touched home on an RBI ground out before Mike Souder plated Jason Bungori on a single for a 5-2 advantage. Villa Julie added single runs in the sixth and seventh to seal the win.
The Bullets got the scoring started with a single run in the second. Mike Luteran (Livingston, NJ/Livingston) tripled and then scored on Ball sacrifice fly.
The Mustangs answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs. Souder scored on an RBI groundout before Brandon Clark touched home on a bases-loaded walk for a 2-1 lead.
Bashaw singled in the fifth and came around to score on Ferris' RBI single to tie the contest at 2 in the fifth.
Gettysburg returns to action on Friday at home when they complete the series with Villa Julie. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
