Pareso picks up fourth win; Gettysburg sweeps Haverford in CC action

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Jackie Pareso (Washington, PA/Canevin Catholic) went 5-for-6 on the day, including a 3-for-3 performance with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead Gettysburg to a pair of fifth-inning victories over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday.

The Bullets (10-4, 2-0 CC) swept the Fords 8-0 and 10-0 to pick up their first conference wins and extend their winning streak to 14 against the Fords.

Four players went 2-for-3 and added one run each in the game-one win while Stef Mastropaolo (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) recorded two RBIs and collected her third triple of the season in game two.

Pareso improved to 4-0 and fired four hitless innings in game two while Shannon Kiry (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) won the second game for her third win of the season.

Gettysburg exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third inning to capture game one, 8-0.

With two outs in the bottom of the first, Pareso singled to left field and reached the plate off an RBI double by Mastropaolo to give the Bullets a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Pareso, Molly Gale (Franklin, MI/Wylie E. Groves), Megan Pilarcik (Middletown, MD/Middletown) and Jenna Pabst (Boonton, Twp., NJ/Mountain Lakes) combined for five RBIs and four hits to jump out to a 7-0 edge.

Kiry only allowed two hits and struck out two before giving way to Lauren Bourne (Ogunquit, ME/Wells) in the fifth.

Gettysburg took advantage of the third inning in game two, but this time scoring seven runs for a 10-0 sweep.

Mastropaolo started things off again in the first inning with an RBI triple that brought in Simmons, before scoring from Gale's single to left field. The Bullets added one run in the second and seven more in the third keyed by Katie Eiden's (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Visitation [DC]) first collegiate triple with bases loaded. Eiden also scored on her hit, but reached the plate on an error.

Haverford managed only one base runner in game two. Alex Kelly broke up the perfect game with a single in the final frame. Cjay Roughgarden (Stormville, NY/Carmel) came on in relief to pitch the final inning.

Gettysburg returns to action tomorrow for a CC doubleheader at Muhlenberg. Game one begins at 1 p.m.
