COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Liz Feldhusen (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough Reg.) scored with 10 seconds left in overtime to lift Gettysburg past Ursinus 1-0 in the Centennial Conference (CC) opener for both teams on Sunday.
Feldhusen netted her third goal of the season and second straight game-winning goal. Freshman Kristen Short (Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony's) made her first-collegiate debut and start in goal while Katie Simmons (Altamont, NY/Guiderland) recorded two saves for the Bullets (4-2, 1-0 CC).
Cara Goldberg posted a game-high 12 saves for the Bears (4-2-2, 0-1 CC).
Both teams battled for nearly 99 minutes before Gettysburg found the twine for its second straight win and first conference victory of the season.
Feldhusen tapped the game-winner into an open net after a scramble in front of the cage for her team-leading third goal of the season.
The Bullets outshot Ursinus 33-5 and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday at No. 14 Messiah. Game time is 7 p.m.
