SELINGSGROVE, Pa.
- Junior David Pone (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown)
netted two goals and added an assist to lead Gettysburg past
Susquehanna 3-0 in the non-conference men's soccer action
on Tuesday.
Pone, who has scored all four of his goals
this season in the last two games, tallied the eventual game-winning
and third goal for the Bullets (4-2). It is the second-straight
game in which he has executed the two-goal trick.
Chris Borcik (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin),
who netted his first goal of the season in a 4-1 win over
Haverford on Saturday, also scored in the game and posted
an assist.
Ryan Murray made six saves
in goal for the Crusaders (2-4-1), while John Ward (Elysburg,
PA/Southern Columbia) matched Murray with six stops
and collected his second shutout this season.
Gettysburg took a 1-0 lead into halftime
thanks to Pone and cruised to its fourth straight victory
of the year.
Freshman Jeffrey Collmann (Elverson,
PA/Twin Valley) tallied his team-leading third assist
when he found Pone in the 26th minute to give the Bullets
the only goal they needed of the afternoon.
The Bullets added two insurance goals when
Pone fed Borcik in the 81st minute, who then returned the
favor six minutes later by assisting on Pone's second goal.
Gettysburg outshot Susquehanna 15-14, while
the Crusaders held a 2-1 edge on corner kicks.
The Bullets return to action on Saturday
at Swarthmore. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
