Johns Hopkins past Gettysburg
1-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) mens soccer action
on Wednesday.
Gill
gave the Blue Jays (12-0, 5-0 CC) all they would need to
stay perfect by netting a left-footed boot from 25 yards
out just under two minutes into the game. The Bullets (6-5-1,
3-1-1 CC) picked up their second loss to a ranked team in
the past four games.
Gettysburg goalkeeper Nick
Wells-Bundtzen (Williamstown,
MA/Mt.
Greylock)
made a career-high 12 saves in the losing effort. The Bullet
defense took on a strong Blue Jay attack that fired 15 first
half shots nine stopped by Wells-Bundtzen - but were able to keep within a one goal margin.
Brad Tabor (Kinnelon,
NJ/Kinnelon) and Garrett
Bruno (Harrisburg,
PA/Susquehanna Twp.) each took two
shots but couldnt convert.
The
Blue Jays outshot the Bullets 24-7 and had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
Johns
Hopkins goalkeeper Gary Kane, Jr. made four stops.
Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday against Washington. Game time is
2:30 p.m. The dedication of the Bullets new home soccer
venue, Clark Field, will follow the game at 4:30.
