GETTYSBURG, Pa. Brad Tabor (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) scored two goals, including the eventual
game-winner, to help Gettysburg
defeat Delaware Valley 4-0 in non-conference mens
soccer action on Tuesday.
Chris Borcik (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) led
the Gettysburg
attack, firing eight shots in the first half, but was unable
to convert for himself. At the just over 10 minutes into
the game, Borcik fired a shot
from the right side that was deflected by Aggie goalkeeper
Chris Zirpoli.
Tabor seized the ball and sent a one-touch shot into the
left side of the net for the eventual game-winner.
David Pone (Bordentown,
NJ/Bordentown) came off the bench to give Gettysburg
a 2-0 lead in the 36th minute off a pass from
Jeff Collmann (Elverson,
PA/Twin
Valley),
who tallied his first assist of the season.
Borcik then connected from the left side with Joe Pascetta
(East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) who found the twine from the top
of the 18-yard box at the 42:54 mark.
The goal was Pascettas second of the season.
Delaware Valley's best opportunities in the first half came in the first
five minutes of the contest, when they had two consecutive
corner kicks that resulted in no shots.
Tabor
secured the win, netting his second goal off a corner kick
serve from Garrett Bruno (Harrisburg,
PA/Susquehanna
Twp.) in the 59th minute, bringing the
final score to 4-0. The goal was Tabors sixth goal
this season.
Ryan Ponnwitz fired the Aggies first
shot of the match in the 63 minute, but it was saved by
Gettysburg goalkeeper Nick Wells-Bundtzen
(Williamstown, MA/Mt. Greylock),
who made three saves in the winning effort.
Wells-Bundtzen
picked up his fourth shutout of the season, while Zirpoli
ended with a game-high 10 saves.
The
Bullets outshot Delaware
Valley
29-4, and had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Gettysburg returns to conference action on Saturday at Muhlenberg.
