BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Christina DiTucci (E. Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) scored a goal and tied a program record with three assists to help 24th-ranked Gettysburg defeat Bryn Mawr 7-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.
DiTucci became the first Bullet in 10 years to set up three goals in a single game, helping Gettysburg (6-2-2, 3-0 CC) improve to 12-0 all-time against the Owls (3-5-1, 0-2 CC). In addition, the Bullets posted their ninth shutout in the series.
Freshman Janelle Fabian (Souderton, PA/Souderton) tallied her first two collegiate goals in the win. Steph Smith (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown Central) added the game-winning goal and one assist as Gettysburg (6-2-2, 3-0 CC) extended its unbeaten streak to eight games, the program's longest since an eight-game stretch in 1999.
DiTucci's first assist led to Smith's second goal of the season and gave the Bullets a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. DiTucci then set up Molly Bauer (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) at 29:07 to make it 2-0, Bauer's first goal in three seasons.
Megan Murphy (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) and Fabian followed with their first collegiate goals in a span of 10 minutes, 25 seconds to give the Bullets a 4-0 halftime lead.
After Katie Ferraro (Westminster, CO/St. Mary's Acad.) pushed the lead to 5-0 in the 56th minute, DiTucci scored off an assist from Kelly Burke (Greenwood Village, CO/St. Mary's Acad.) at 81:40. DiTucci capped her big day by assisting on Fabian's second goal with exactly 6:00 remaining.
Gettysburg goalie Allie Loeb (Bellemead, NJ/Montgomery) made three saves to record her first collegiate shutout.
DiTucci joined Angela Calvetti and Tracy Blasius as the only Bullets with three assists in a game. Calvetti turned the trick in 1993 and Blasius matched the mark the following season.
Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday at McDaniel. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
