Barr (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) had 28 kills in two matches to lead Gettysburg to a pair of sweeps
in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action at Bryn
Mawr and at Haverford at Saturday.
In the early
match, Erin Barkdoll
(Dover, PA/Dover) led the Bullets
(15-2, 4-0 CC) with 13 kills to a 3-0 win over the Owls
(4-10, 0-3 CC).
Gettysburg
cruised to a 30-9 victory in game one and put up a 30-13
win in game two before completing the sweep with a 30-26
game-three victory.
In the nightcap
of the split twinbill, Barr notched 20 kills to lead Gettysburg over the Fords (10-7, 1-2 CC), 30-17,
30-21, 30-27.
The Bullets
trailed 15-7 in game three against Haverford before coming
back to complete the sweep, giving Gettysburg its eight 3-0
victory of the season. The win was not only the 13th
straight for the Bullets this season, but also extended
a streak over the last two seasons where the Orange &
Blue have won 41 of 44 matches, including 27 by way of a
sweep.
Against
Bryn Mawr, Barkdoll added three total
blocks. Margaret
Hallahan (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon)
steadied the defense with 10 digs. Jessica
Cortese (Lancaster,
PA/Hempfield) and Steph Vial (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) added eight apiece.
Shannan Smith (Milmont Park, PA/Ridley) tallied 42 assists and five aces while Hallahan added
three aces.
In the Haverford
match, Cortese added seven kills, eight digs and four block assists.
Smith added 41 more assists.
Vial also
contributed 17 digs and five aces.
The Bullets
return home for a conference match against Franklin &
Marshall on Tuesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
