EWING, N.J. – Brittny Boyd scored two goals to help No. 8 College of New Jersey defeat Gettysburg 4-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Tuesday.
With the win over the Bullets (11-3-2), the Lions (15-1-1) continue a 14-game winning streak that includes 12 shutouts and only two goals allowed. TCNJ also continued an eight-game winning streak over the Bullets, giving Gettysburg its first shutout of the season.
The Lions dominated the first half, firing ten shots and connecting twice, while holding the Bullets to zero shots.
Boyd put TCNJ on the board at the 23:11 mark, scoring her 11th goal of the season.
Lauren DiStefano connected with a corner kick serve from Lynda Schuster, sending the ball past Gettysburg goalkeeper Kristin Short (Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony's) in the 29th minute and putting the Lions up 2-0 at halftime.
TCNJ came out shooting again in the second half, taking six more shots before Schuster found the back of the net at the 68:01 mark, while Boyd netted her second goal of the game in the 76th minute.
Katie Ferraro (Westminster, CO/St. Mary's Academy) fired Gettysburg's first shot of the game in the 77th minute, but it was saved by Lion netminder Allison Kacar.
Steph Smith (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown) had the Bullets' last chance to score, but her shot sailed wide with six minutes left in the game.
The Lions outshot Gettysburg 22-2 and had an 11-2 corner kick advantage.
Short and Allie Loeb (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) shared time in goal for the Bullets, making two saves apiece
The Bullets return to conference action on Friday against Dickinson. With a win, Gettysburg secures home-field advantage for the CC tournament on Nov. 5-6. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
