WESTMINSTER, Md. – Katie Ferraro (Westminster, CO/St. Mary's Acad.) scored the game-winning goal to lead No. 21 Gettysburg (7-2-2, 4-0 CC) to a 1-0 win over McDaniel (6-5, 1-4 CC) in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Wednesday.
Ferraro connected with Katie Myers (Randallstown, MD/WSTES) in the 78th minute, to help the Bullets extend their unbeaten streak to nine games and remain untouched in conference play.
Gettysburg's lone goal of the game was Ferraro's third of the season while the assist marked Myers' first of the year.
Myers, Gettysburg's leading scorer, took a game-high four shots - two on goal - but couldn't connect on the opportunities. The Bullets outshot the Green Terror 14-3, and also had a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
Laura Carvey had an opportunity to put the McDaniel on the board, but Gettysburg goalkeeper Kristin Short (Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony's) made her only save of the day on the shot. Short recorded her third solo shutout and the Bullets posted their sixth blanking of the season.
Michelle Mullen made seven saves for the Green Terror in the losing effort.
The Bullets return to conference action on Saturday at Washington. Game time is 1 p.m.
