ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman Matt Shank (Reedsville, PA/Indian Valley) finished fourth at 141 in his Gettysburg debut as the Bullet wrestling team placed 13th out of 17 teams at the annual Ithaca Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Bullets finished with 32 points, one out of 12th. Springfield College won the team title with 145 points.

Shank won his three matches in the winners bracket before being sent to the consolation bracket with his 11-2 loss in the semifinals to top-seeded Tenkoran Agyeman from Oswego.

Shenk got his first collegiate fall in his opening match with a 3-minute, 12-second pin of Western New England's Jeff Murdock.

He continued his Friday with a 4-0 win over No. 4 seed Niko Filippakis from Norwich and a 13-4 decision over Johnson & Wales' Rob Doherty.

In the consolation bracket, Shank once again defeated Filippakis, 6-0 before falling to third-seed Gene Kobalinsky from NYU.

Senior Tom Fives (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) went 4-2 on the weekend at 157.

He defeated Allen Davis (Springfield) and Jared Teal (Oswego) 14-3 and 13-7, respectively, in the winners bracket before falling to fourth-seeded Matt Thurston (Norwich), 5-4.

In the consolation bracket, Fives wrestled back with a 5-4 decision over Jason Chacon (College of New Jersey) and 3-2 win over Brian Hayes of Springfield and 3-2 win before falling 5-0 to Oswego's Dane LaPlante.

Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday at the Monarch Inviational hosted by King's College. Action begins at 10 a.m.
