GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Christina DiTucci (E. Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) scored twice to lead Gettysburg past Ursinus in game one of the Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer semifinals on Saturday.
DiTucci put Gettysburg (13-4-2) on the board at the 18:38 mark, drilling a shot from the top of the 18-yard box past Ursinus goalkeeper Ashley Potter into the right corner of the net. The Bullets never relinquished the lead.
Aubrey Andre tried to put the Bears (12-7-1) up early, firing a shot on goal in the seventh minute of the game, but Gettysburg netminder Kristin Short (Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony's) made the first of her two saves on the shot.
Gettysburg's offense took control, taking seven shots in the first half. Katie Myers (Randallstown, MD/WSTES) led the squad with four shots, including one off a pass from Jenny Line (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) in the eighth minute that was grabbed by Potter.
DiTucci struck again midway through the second half in a similar fashion, claiming possession of the ball at the top-right corner of the 18-yard box, dribbling across the top and drilling the ball past Potter into the top-left corner of the net.
Andre had the Bears' best opportunity to score with fewer than three minutes left in the game, but her shot hit the crossbar.
Gettysburg outshot Ursinus 12-4, and had a 4-2 corner kick advantage.
Myers finished with two saves, while Potter tallied three stops in the losing effort.
With the win, the Bullets advance to the CC championship game where they will take on Johns Hopkins in search of their fifth conference title. Game time is 1 p.m.
Johns Hopkins eliminated No. 2 seed Haverford 2-1 in overtime in the other semifinal match.
