WESTMINSTER, Md. - Katie Eiden (Silver Spring, MD/Georgetown Visitation [DC]) hit her first collegiate home run in game two as Gettysburg split with McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Tuesday.

Eiden smacked the ball 200 feet to send it out of the park for a three-run homer to help the Bullets (18-9, 10-4 CC) bounce back from a 6-0 game-one loss and capture the nightcap 5-1.

Megan Pilarcik (Middletown, MD/Middletown) went a combined 3-for-5, including two doubles in game one. Despite picking up the loss in the opener, Shannon Kiry (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) battled back to only give up only one run on five hits for the win in game two.

Samantha Abrams, the 2003 CC Player of the Year, fired a four-hit shutout in game one while sister Mary Abrams went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, one runs scored and a home run for the Green Terror (18-9-8-4 CC).

Trailing 1-0 after four innings, Margaret Hallahan (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon) ripped a single that allowed Gettysburg to put two runs on the scoreboard to take the lead that would not relinquish.

With one out in the top of the fifth, designated hitter Michelle Oravis (Morgantown, PA/Boyertown) singled to center field and Jackie Pareso (Washington, PA/Canevin Catholic) to put runners on first and second. Next up, Hallahan smacks a two RBI single to left field to bring in pinch runner Erin Podlesny (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) and Pareso for a 2-1 lead.

Pilarcik singled to center field and Adrienne Simmons (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) got hit by a pitch, before Eiden cranked the ball deep into left field and over the fence for her first collegiate home run to make it 5-1 in the sixth inning.

McDaniel loaded the bases and scored its lone run in the first inning after Heather Sinclair was hit by a pitch and recorded the RBI for sending lead-off hitter Sam Abrams home. With all bases occupied and one out, Pilarcik tricked the double play to hold the Green Terror to just one run.

In the opener, Abrams threw the shutout for her 10th victory of the season and Kim Camponelli went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI to hand the Bullets their third shutout loss, 6-0.

In the first inning, Abrams hit the first home run of the afternoon to also score Lauren Cramer for a 2-0 lead. The Green Terror added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the sixth, while holding Gettysburg off the board.

Back-to-back hits from Kristen Barrick and Camponelli started the scoring in the fourth inning. Barrick singled on a line drive to left field and Camponelli followed with an RBI double. Cramer's sacrifice fly to the popular left field allowed Camponelli to score for a 5-0 lead.

Pilarcik tallied two hits, while Pareso and Simmons posted the other two hits for the Bullets in game one.

Gettysburg returns to action on Thursday at home non-conference doubleheader against Columbia Union. Game one begins 3 p.m.
