Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Jenny Line (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) netted the game-winning goal to lead Gettysburg past Ursinus 2-0 in the women's soccer conference opener on Saturday.

Line put the Bullets on the board after receiving a pass from freshman Kelly Burke (Greenwood Village, CO/St. Mary's Academy) in the 11th minute.

Gettysburg took advantage of the fierce wind at its back, dominating the play and netting both goals in the first half. Katie Myers (Randallstown, MD/WSTES), netted her third goal of the season after breaking through the defense at the top of the box and finding the back of the net in the 29th minute.

The Bullets silenced the Ursinus offense, outshooting the Bears 14-0. Gettysburg also had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Myers lead the team with four shots fired.

The Bears had both corner kicks late in the second half, but could not convert on the opportunities.

With the win the Bullets improve to 3-2-1 overall (1-0 CC), while the Bears fall to 4-2 overall (0-1 CC).

In the goal, Allie Loeb (Bellemead, NJ/Montgomery) made her first collegiate start for Gettysburg, but split the halves with Kristin Short (Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony's) for the winning effort. Ashley Potter tallied one save for the Bears.

The Bullets return to action on Wednesday at home against Messiah. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
