Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Chris Borcik (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) netted the game-winning goal to lift Gettysburg past Susquehanna 2-1 in non-conference men’s soccer action on Tuesday.

Borcik scored his fourth goal of the season in the 73rd minute off a serve from Brendan Foerster (Manchester Court, VT/Burr & Burton Academy) giving the Bullets (4-3, 1-0 CC) a 2-1 lead.

Brandon Bell (Hagerstown, MD/North Hagerstown) came off the bench to put Gettysburg on the board in the 24th minute with a one-touch goal off a cross sent by David Pone (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown). Pone leads the team and the Centennial Conference (CC) with six assists on the season.

The Crusaders (5-2) picked up momentum going into the second stanza creating several scoring opportunities, but couldn’t convert until the 65th minute when Nate Snyder connected with Justin Hutchinson for Susquehanna’s lone goal of the game, tying the score at 1.

Gettysburg picked up an advantage in the 73rd minute after Susquehanna’s Stephan Oluwole was served with a red card and ejected from the game.

Less than one minute later, Borcik fired the game-winner into the left side of the net from about 20 yards out.

The Bullets outshot the Crusaders 11-8, despite their rally in the second half. Gettysburg also had an 8-4 edge over Susquehanna in corner kicks.

Gettysburg’s goalkeeper Nick Wells-Bundtzen (Williamstown, MA/Mt. Greylock) tallied two saves in the effort, while Nick Hoover gathered a game-high seven stops.

With the win, the Bullets continue a 19-game winning streak over the Crusaders.

Gettysburg returns to action against Swarthmore at home on Saturday. Game time has been moved to 2 p.m.
