DiTucci leads Gettysburg to 6-0 blanking of Swarthmore

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Christina DiTucci (E. Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) tallied two goals and two assists to lead Gettysburg (4-2-2, 2-0 CC) past Swarthmore (3-5, 1-1 CC) 6-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.

DiTucci netted her first two season goals - including the game-winner – and Katie Myers (Randallstown, MD/WSTES) also netted two goals, increasing her season goal count to six to help the Bullets garner their second conference win.

The Bullets dominated on both sides of the ball, firing 25 shots and allowing the Garnet to take just two shots.

DiTucci put Gettysburg on the board sending the game-winner into an open net off a Liz Feldhusen (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough Reg.) pass in the 15th minute.

Myers fired next after taking the ball at the top of the box and sending it into the twine to the left of the goalkeeper at 20:28.

Katie Ferraro (Westminster, CO/St. Mary's Academy) found the back of the net for the first time this season in the 29th minute off a Ditucci cross from within the box.

Myers stuck again in the second half netting a right-footed boot to the left past the Swarthmore goalkeeper Kristen Traband. DiTucci collected her second assist of the day on the goal.

Feldhusen found DiTucci again in the 71st minute to bring the score to 5-0.

Sophomore Steph Smith (Cooperstown, NY/Cooperstown) also netted her first goal this season off a pass from Kat Poster (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) in the 76th minute bringing the final score to 6-0,

The Garnet's best scoring opportunity came in the 56th minute when Sarah Hobbs' shot sailed high above the net. Lauren Kett fired a shot in the first half for Swarthmore, but it went wide right.

Kristin Short/Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony's) and Allie Loeb (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomerey) each spent a half in goal and combined for the team's fourth shutout. Traband collected seven saves in the losing effort.

Gettysburg returns to action on at Elizabethtown on Wednesday. Game time is 6 p.m.
